Cooling centers around town to offer relief from excessive heat

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Essex County as temperatures are expected to rise above 90 on Friday. Due to the extreme temperatures, cooling centers will be open around town.

The Montclair Public Library Main Branch, at 50 South Fullerton, will be open as a cooling center on the first and second floor only on Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Montclair Public Library’s Bellevue Avenue Branch, 185 Bellevue Avenue, will be open Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

The township is also opening their doors to the public.  Communications Director Katya Wowk said: “Members of the public are welcome to cool off in the municipal building council chambers during office hours.”
